My great love affair with photography started when I was a young teenager living with my family in India. The experiences I had there made me wish for some way to bring those experiences home to share with my friends. With each trip I took after that, I always made sure to have a camera with me to record what I saw and that led me to my first award at the age of fifteen. That image was taken during a trip to Japan and shot on a day where my friend I was traveling with had declared "There's nothing to see out there!"
While my early love was documenting Landscapes, soon after I entered college I saw the hills and valleys of the land mimicked in the landscapes of the female form. For years, I have always seen the idea of the goddess, Mother Mary, queens and divine creators within every woman I have photographed. This idea is ever present whether the image is a nude, fashion, wedding image or even a family photo. I seek to elevate woman and make sure that images pay homage to that idea.
I have been taking images professionally for over twenty years and started my first working studio at the age of twenty four. Since then I have won multiple awards, been represented by a gallery in New York City, been published in several art books, art magazines and have had the pleasure of being an educator in the field for the last fifteen years. This is a wonderful opportunity since I believe that students keep you on your toes, pushing you to always top yourself and keep yourself ahead of the up and coming generations as well as having to continue educating yourself as well, knowing what technology is next so you can pass that information along. I love my job and I hope I have always been able to convey that to my students.
